Nails inspired by my baby boy ✓ August To-Do List

15 Aug

August T0-Do List

Task: Paint my nails in the color of my baby boys play mat (fun childlike colors for him to look at, just because)

A fun lovable “to-do” inspired by my baby boys play mat, pictured to the left with the chosen nail polishes.

Using a teal (Making Waves) by Sonia Kashuk, an icy blue (name unknown) by Collection 2000, an elephant grey (Groovy Grey) by GOSH, a coral (Tart Deco) by essie, and a deep orange (Bright Orange) by Max Factor I went to work while my baby slept.

The next morning his little face perked up at the sight of my nails and the color painted on however his playfulness could also have been the result of his good nights sleep, milk intake, or being my Little Buddha baby – frankly his happy gurgles could have absolutely nothing to do with me! But it’s nice to think I might have had something to do with it 🙂

Ticked off so far: Paint My Nails A Neon Hue

Tip Your Waitress

August To-Do List

I am getting my August to-do list ticked off and this is one to-do list that is not causing stress, in fact it is making me feel light on my feet and has me more than excited!

Task: Paint my nails a neon hue

The only hard thing about this “to-do” was finding the neon shade I wanted! I decided to test out a brand I had never tried before so went to my local CVS and spotted Spoiled by Wet n Wild, exclusive to the store.

There were several neon hues and I settled on SO11 called Tip Your Waitress, a bright pink that part reminds me of my childhood Barbie and partly of a hot summer vacation!

Tip Your Waitress

  • One of the best neon hues I have ever worn and I have tested out a few including neon yellows, oranges and greens.
  • Fantastic for both finger nails and toe nails.
  • BARGAIN PRICE, $1.99!!
  • I am actually still in shock over the $1.99 price tag, never have I found such good quality nail polish for such an amazing bargain price! This is definitely one brand I will be buying more of!

SPOILED by Wet n Wild

Exclusive to CVS stores across America, 72 shades are currently available. All colors are toluene, phthalate and form-aldehyde free. Follow @wetnwildbeauty or follow CVS Stores @CVS_Extra

Which will you wear this month?

Hand Cream Moisturizing Celebrities

13 Jul

Hand and Nail Therapy

Wonder how Hollywood celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker keep their hands and nails perfectly nourished?

Mystery solved: Mane ‘n Tail Hoofmaker ™ Hand and Nail Therapy cream.

BEST OF ALL, THE AFFORDABLE PRICE!

Mane ‘n Tail Hoofmaker ™ Hand and Nail Therapy cream was discovered during the seventies after horse owners realized the ingredients that they were applying to their horses hoofs were also making their own hands become softer. Quick and sometimes unbelievable results were seen with vital nutrients which protect and nourish skin and nails found in the hand cream.

For those of you that think that this might just be another beauty myth let me assure you it is not! I have test a lot of hand creams and never been this satisfied so quickly:

After having tested the Hand and Nail Therapy I could see the difference in my skin after just two weeks, my hands were much less dry and my nails looked healthier. This is one hand cream I will continue to purchase!

  • My skin went from extremely dry and hard to soft and nourished.
  • Almost immediately my nails began feeling stronger, the cream over time protects them against everyday damage.
  • The texture is non-greasy meaning once you have applied the cream to your hands you do not have to worry about touching your iPhone, laptops, etc and leaving fingerprints!
  • There is not a strong fragrance from Mane ‘n Tail Hoofmaker ™ Hand cream which personally I love as there is nothing worse for me than having my hands smell too strong, especially with an infant who loves sucking on my fingers!
  • The 6oz bottle, available online for $3.49, is a fantastic size for both keeping at home, in the car, or in your handbag and will keep your hands moisturized for months.

A cream that works… that celebrity beauties love… and that we can afford! Mane ‘n Tail Hoofmaker ™ Hand and Nail Therapy

2012 nails: imPRESS Press-on Manicure

6 Jan

imPRESS Space Cadet Press-on Manicure set received complimentary to test through Influenster's VoxBox program

This year make your beauty routine easier, save time and money with imPRESS Press-on Manicure sets by Broadway Nails.

I recently received the D090 Space Cadet pattern (a black and white leopard print with glitter) to test through Influenster’s VoxBox program and am so glad as not only do they save time when making nails look salon ready at home, they also:

  • last up to a week, often longer (meaning more time spent on other things rather than your nails)
  • do not smudge whilst drying and do not chip when dry (resulting in a more salon ready look)
  • are easily applied, via a stick on process (able to apply these yourself at home in minutes)
  • make nails look smooth, shiny and clean around the edges so no more messy applications (get the salon look yourself in the comfort of your home for much less money)
  • due to the press on application there are no fumes (making the imPRESS Press-on Manicure set perfect for pregnant women or those sensitive to strong smells)

Easy To Apply

Each set comes with 24 nail covers so you have plenty of spares just in-case you want to restart.

  1. Find the correct size nail cover for each of your nails (tab on imPRESS nails is always lined with cuticle) and line them up in finger order.
  2. Cleanse your natural nail bed with the prep pad enclosed.
  3. Peel off tab on imPRESS nail and firmly press onto your natural nails. Apply pressure for a few seconds and you are done!*

*I have naturally long nails and did not want to cut/file them too short so after applying the imPRESS Press-on Manicure set I simply filed my natural nails down to the long length of nails found in the imPRESS set. A bonus was this made my natural nails all the same length!

Easy To Remove

  1. Apply nail polish remover to the edges of each nail, wait for one minute and gently peel off the imPRESS set starting from the sides.

Watch the imPRESS video on easy application here

always be ready to go, just like Nicole Scherzinger the face & hands in the imPRESS commercials!

New Years Eve Nails by Minx

23 Dec

Beyoncé w/ Minx Gold Hologram nails

Rihanna w/ Minx Pink & Gold Moon nails

Minx nails launched in 2008 and ever since the response has been more than positive with celebrities and fashion designers around the world.

A-list beauties spotted with Minx nails include Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Kim Kardashian.

British legendary designer Vivienne Westwood and New York designer Stacey Clark both featured Minx nails during their Spring/Summer 2012 shows this past season.

Minx is a solid nail coating, applied through a process using heat and pressure. Minx is fantastic for expectant mothers and anyone sensitive to the usual nail polish fumes found in salons as no liquid/vapors are found with Minx. The solid nail coating is basically shrink wrapped to your nail making it both safe and quick.

“Minx is ideal for runway shows because you do not have to worry about smudging or drying the models’ nails, and with hair and makeup all working at once, that’s a huge benefit,” – Danielle Corbin Jaime, NailTaxiNYC owner.

Vivienne Westwood presented her S/S 2012 collection and using Minx nails completed the colorful theme of the collection. UK nail stylist Marian Newman met with Vivienne Westwood and her team ahead of the show to decide on the Minx nail look. Minx nails can fit into any style, whether you want high fashion or fun design so finding your look is easy with Minx nails.

“Together, we looked at a variety of Minx colors and designs that I felt matched (Westwood’s) theme, and Andreas (Vivienne’s husband) picked out the Minx that was the best fit.” The standard Minx designs of Flowers, Turquoise Chrome, Japanese Blossom, Oil Slick, Shell and Black were used with application partly on the nail and partly on the finger to look as if a child has been playing dress up.

DIY Manicures by the Stylish Housewife

7 Dec

Contemporary Christmas

With a season of parties and holiday festivities surrounding us this month you may want to pay extra attention to your nails, though with such busy schedules during December it can be difficult to get that extra time to treat yourself. Which is why pampering yourself at home could be the answer and thanks to the Stylish Housewife DIY manicures just became a little easier…

Here we highlight three manicures the Stylish Housewife gives us step-by-step instructions on how to achieve.

Manicure Must-Haves

  • Sally Hansen miracle cure or essie’s “Feed Me” for the base coat
  • OPI top coat
  • Nail Brush
  • Cuticle Cutters
  • Nail Clippers
  • OPI rapid dry spray
  • Nail file
  • Nail polish remover, the Stylish Housewife recommends Butter London’s nail lacquer remover
  • essie corrector pen, must-have for nail stamp manicures

CONTEMPORARY CHRISTMAS, this manicure is fabulous for the Christmas season when you want festivity but not a too obvious design.

  1. Remove nail polish before showering, then use a nail brush to scrub nails so cuticles are clean and soft. Push the cuticles back with the cutters and then pull them back to cut them.
  2. Cut nails with a slight point to them and file into shape.
  3. Paint on base coat.
  4. Paint on two coats of base color, waiting a few minutes between coats to ensure coats have dried. For the above manicure essie “sew psyched” shade has been used. Start in the middle of your nail with the first stroke and then do the sides. DO NOT paint the cuticle area!
  5. Follow with OPI top coat.
  6. Spray on OPI’s rapid dry spray.
  7. To achieve the nail art images shown in dusky gold you need the Konad Nail Art Stamping Kit and you are set!
