19 Nov

Inspired by the latest installment of 007, James Bond, O.P.I gives us their latest fall/winter collection: Skyfall

Twelve shades are available from glistening GoldenEye to seductive jet black so picking a color will not be easy but there will definitely be a shade for every occasion this season!

  • To achieve the same look as actress Bérénice Marlohe in Skyfall (assuming you have long nails) use Skyfall on top and GoldenEye on the underside, or let me know your two shaded combination!

Nails inspired by my baby boy ✓ August To-Do List

15 Aug

August T0-Do List

Task: Paint my nails in the color of my baby boys play mat (fun childlike colors for him to look at, just because)

A fun lovable “to-do” inspired by my baby boys play mat, pictured to the left with the chosen nail polishes.

Using a teal (Making Waves) by Sonia Kashuk, an icy blue (name unknown) by Collection 2000, an elephant grey (Groovy Grey) by GOSH, a coral (Tart Deco) by essie, and a deep orange (Bright Orange) by Max Factor I went to work while my baby slept.

The next morning his little face perked up at the sight of my nails and the color painted on however his playfulness could also have been the result of his good nights sleep, milk intake, or being my Little Buddha baby – frankly his happy gurgles could have absolutely nothing to do with me! But it’s nice to think I might have had something to do with it 🙂

Ticked off so far: Paint My Nails A Neon Hue

Spoiled Neon “Tip Your Waitress” by Wet n Wild

Tip Your Waitress

August To-Do List

I am getting my August to-do list ticked off and this is one to-do list that is not causing stress, in fact it is making me feel light on my feet and has me more than excited!

Task: Paint my nails a neon hue

The only hard thing about this “to-do” was finding the neon shade I wanted! I decided to test out a brand I had never tried before so went to my local CVS and spotted Spoiled by Wet n Wild, exclusive to the store.

There were several neon hues and I settled on SO11 called Tip Your Waitress, a bright pink that part reminds me of my childhood Barbie and partly of a hot summer vacation!

Tip Your Waitress

  • One of the best neon hues I have ever worn and I have tested out a few including neon yellows, oranges and greens.
  • Fantastic for both finger nails and toe nails.
  • BARGAIN PRICE, $1.99!!
  • I am actually still in shock over the $1.99 price tag, never have I found such good quality nail polish for such an amazing bargain price! This is definitely one brand I will be buying more of!

SPOILED by Wet n Wild

Exclusive to CVS stores across America, 72 shades are currently available. All colors are toluene, phthalate and form-aldehyde free. Follow @wetnwildbeauty or follow CVS Stores @CVS_Extra

Which will you wear this month?

DIY Manicures by the Stylish Housewife

7 Dec

Contemporary Christmas

With a season of parties and holiday festivities surrounding us this month you may want to pay extra attention to your nails, though with such busy schedules during December it can be difficult to get that extra time to treat yourself. Which is why pampering yourself at home could be the answer and thanks to the Stylish Housewife DIY manicures just became a little easier…

Here we highlight three manicures the Stylish Housewife gives us step-by-step instructions on how to achieve.

Manicure Must-Haves

  • Sally Hansen miracle cure or essie’s “Feed Me” for the base coat
  • OPI top coat
  • Nail Brush
  • Cuticle Cutters
  • Nail Clippers
  • OPI rapid dry spray
  • Nail file
  • Nail polish remover, the Stylish Housewife recommends Butter London’s nail lacquer remover
  • essie corrector pen, must-have for nail stamp manicures

CONTEMPORARY CHRISTMAS, this manicure is fabulous for the Christmas season when you want festivity but not a too obvious design.

  1. Remove nail polish before showering, then use a nail brush to scrub nails so cuticles are clean and soft. Push the cuticles back with the cutters and then pull them back to cut them.
  2. Cut nails with a slight point to them and file into shape.
  3. Paint on base coat.
  4. Paint on two coats of base color, waiting a few minutes between coats to ensure coats have dried. For the above manicure essie “sew psyched” shade has been used. Start in the middle of your nail with the first stroke and then do the sides. DO NOT paint the cuticle area!
  5. Follow with OPI top coat.
  6. Spray on OPI’s rapid dry spray.
  7. To achieve the nail art images shown in dusky gold you need the Konad Nail Art Stamping Kit and you are set!
